一年之计在于春。立春是农历二十四节气中的第一个节气，也是一年之始。明清两代，都有“打春”的典制。立春这天，平民百姓生吃萝卜，名“咬春”。富裕的人家“咬春”则吃春饼。

The whole year's work depends on a good start in spring. Beginning of Spring is the first one in lunar 24 solar terms. In Ming and Qing dynasties, "Beginning of Spring "was a historical tradition. On this day, the ordinary people preferred to cook radishes called as"Tasting Spring", while the rich preferred spring pancakes.
